has anyone ever read "Pieces", the short stories stephen chbosky edited? i absolutely LOVED it. right up there with perks. :)
i've also read brave new girl, perks of being a wallflower, fake liar cheat. i think there was another louisa luna book i read too, but i can't think of the title. it was about a girl that had just been released from prison, does anyone know what that was? anyway, i love the mtv books, and louisa luna. i hope they come out with more soooon.

Hi.

The only MTV book I've read was "The Perks of Being A Wallflower". I read it in the beginning of my freshman year of high school and I just fell in love with it. It's by far one of my favorite books of all time.

I've been meaning to pick up "Brave New Girl" but I can never find it in any local bookstores in my town. Blah.

New to the group, a bit addicted to MTVBooks, and have been following them for years.  PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER was a life altering book, which I've given to every damn little cousin I've had entering high school...because maybe one day one of them will need it nearly as much as I did.

Have been following Arthur Nersesian's career since THE FUCK-UP and even after he left MTVBooks to go to to Akashiac.  (You can read my post in my own journal about my experience meeting him last month.)

Hi…a few months back I posted about my book project. A lot of people inquired about it and asked me to keep them posted.

Just wanted to say that it will be released in June. It is available for pre-order on Amazon.

Thank you for your support…

I know most of the posts are about Perks and what not,
but I have a question about a book I've heard about.

Last April I saw a lot of advertising for a book that was a compilation of various bands and poems people in them had written.
But I forget the name of it and I was wondering if anyone knows what I'm talking about and what the name is.
I'm not even positive it's an MTV book but I think it could be.
Any help would be much appreciated :)

Hi, my name is Jacob and I am new to this community, and, well, lj in general. I am 15 years old from Springfield, MA. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is my FAVORITE BOOK EVER!!!!!! I love it to death. Just recently, one of my friends in Northampton told me that some indie film company named AFAYA Productions is making a film of it near his town. I became so stoked about this, and after like a million hours of searching, I found their website. I think this is the best news I have ever heard, this movie is going to rock hardcore.

I just made my first community! It's called book_talk, and every month we pick a new book to read as a group, and then discuss and share our ideas and opinions through artwork, poetry, icons, graphics, writing or whatever. The first 5 people to join are auto accepted, and after 25 people join, the group will be locked down, so it doesn't get too crowded. The first book will be started soon, so join today!

Why hello all, I just found this community and figured I'd join. I love the MTV books.
I have read:
Brave New Girl
the fuck up
the perks of being a wall flower
and
don't sleep with your drummer

Right now I am in the middle of reading dog run.

I love to discuss books, and shite.
I'm wondering what every ones fav book was?

Of the ones I've read I think its a tie between the perks, and Don't sleep with your drummer.

Hi,

I'm Jolene. I'm a fan of Stephen Chbosky and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

I could especially relate to his novel because I have something similar. When I was 17 I began to write my favorite rockstar about my dysfunctional home life and general reflections. He saved these letters for me for 9 years then returnd them perfectly preserved.

My experience was much darker than Charlies...or was at least documented a bit darker. The content involves abuse, self-injury, drug experimentation and just plain lonliness. I have a website for my proposed novel where you can find excerpts, artwork and photographs.

I'm always seeking feedback.

Thanks,
Jolene

i never knew that something as lame as MTV could make good books. i read the perks of being a wallflower after having about a billion people i know read it and whine about how good of a book it was. so i bought it and i read it. pretty damn good, yeah. so this quarter i did my english "booktalk" on it, and everyone like, almost cried when i read the poem from it. and my friend jen did her booktalk on the book brave new girl. it sounded really good, so i borrowed it from her and read it. that was 2 days ago.. and i think i already have a new favorite book. and my favorite part is when doreen just keeps thinking fuck everything. i just felt like that was so me. and it saddened me that i do not own that book.. so whatever. back to the point. which book is your favorite?/which should i read next?

It was a great book but I need some books that are quite similar to that because those kind of books keep me interested and many other books dont. So some suggestions would be quite nice. Thanks

alright i'm new.

i've read perks of being a wallflower, the fuck up, all of the alphabetical hookup list, brave new girl, and don't sleep with your drummer.

i must say my favorite is perks. it made me look at people in a whole new way. like i saw this boy at school and he reminded me so much of charlie. so i started talking to him and he is now one of my best friends. this book is just so real. it's the new truly great coming of age novel.

oh and just a comment. to anyone who read perks and has not yet read j.d. salinger's the catcher in the rye, do it. trust me. that book is my absolute favorite of all time. it might not be an mtv book but there was no mtv in 1951.
